TWO DAY CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME CONCLUDES AT DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL PAKHOWAL ROAD, LUDHIANA

Two day capacity building programme under the guidance of DAVCAE, winded up in its full glory at DAV Public School Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana. Around 80 teachers of Primary level from different DAV schools participated in the programme under the stewardship of Pr. J.K. Sidhu, the Assistant Regional Officer and Regional Training Coordinator of Ludhiana Zone. The concluding day was graced by the benign presence of Pr.Mrs.Sonali Sharma (RMB DAV Cent. Public School, Nawanshahr) of Social Science and English, Mrs.Urmil Bhardwaj (Primary Supervisory Head, DAV, B.R.S Nagar) of Maths and Science. Valedictory ceremony was performed by Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar Principal of the host school along with guests to felicitate the resource persons for their efforts to polish the teaching methodologies. She said that it was an endeavour on the part of the school to keep the teachers abreast with the latest strategies to manage the classroom environment effectively. She wished all the teachers on the occasion of Hindi Divas as the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the official language of the Republic of India

 The participants had a gala time of learning and upgrading their skills of teaching. Activity based interesting sessions made every teacher to think critically and make the classroom teaching child- centric with innovative and interesting activities through ice breaking, balloon activity, minimum learning, letter tiles in Science, factors and multiple puzzle game, math loto, fun in circles, currency puzzle, making paper protector in maths, arranging the states alphabetically, menu making according to the dishes of the different states, uses of three R’s in Social Science. Games, presentations, PPT, role plays, poster making, innovative skills for poem recitation and so on captivated the interest of the learners of English and Hindi language.Classroom Management session on handling students with different tendencies, to find solutions to the common problems through sharing and professional counseling provided the multiple approach for effective classroom teaching.

Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar presented mementos to the distinguished On –Site Coordinators and resource persons as a token of appreciation for all the hard work they had put in, to make the workshop a success and enriched learning experience. She highlighted the fact that “If teachers don’t act as learners, they cannot keep themselves abreast with the 21st century pedagogical developments”. She also laid emphasis on extracting the creativity from each child by ‘exploring the garden within’. It was a fruitful and enriching session, full of hands-on activities for teachers to indulge and learn from. Teachers will now look forward to apply these strategies effectively in the classroom.
