Communicative English and Reading Comprehension Workshop held at DAV Pakhwoal Road LUDHIANA

With an objective to generate interest and promote English Language, DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana organized an informative workshop on Communicative English and Reading Comprehension on 23rd  July 2019. Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar extended a warm welcome to the resource person Ms.Sakshi Gupta, an elite faculty member of Bull’s Eye, Chandigarh, a renowned Institute for the preparation of competitive Exams like CAT and XAT. Around 150 students of Class IX gained tremendous information while attending the workshop.  The students actively participated in the interaction and got their queries resolved by the resource person to their utmost contentment.

Ms.Sakshi Gupta shared encouraging and interesting ways of communicating in English with the students. She also suggested tips to speak English fluently without hesitation and anxiety. Reading Comprehension handouts, and resourceful guidelines simplified the concepts further.

Pr. Dr. Bhullar acknowledged the efforts of the resource person for enlightening the students. She stressed the importance of integrated learning of the language. She encouraged the students to practice wholeheartedly the comprehensive LSRW skills of the global language so that the portals of national and international opportunities should remain easily accessible for every student. The session proved to be fruitful for all the students.

GST Activity

GST Activity Month at DAV Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana

ghten the students on GST. Mr. Nomya Singla , a renowned Economist showed informative PPts to the students and took up their queries on its application and utility. The students gathered the food and transport bills of the countries of study and learnt to study and compare the GST rates. Many informative and creative projects were made by the students of Class XI Com to have an intense glimpse into the GST concept. The students also drafted and designed pamphlets to spread awareness amongst the students. The pamphlets adorned the bulletin boards of the Senior wing and were deeply admired by the onlookers.  Mrs Shilpy Bansal, PGT Mathematics helped the students to express the comparison through graphic presentations. The students were also engaged in cub reporting to cover and record the activities contained in the ISA. 

Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar stressed the importance of learning GST for its better application. She shared that through ISA activities the school is trying to widen the scope of learning through comparative study. The school focuses to acquaint students with latest policy implementations to make them strong policy makers of future.

English Quiz Contest conducted at DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana

With an objective to generate interest and promote English Language, DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana conducted English Quiz Contest on 20th July 2019. The students of Class VI-VIII displayed the spectrum of awareness and intelligence as they answered Quiz Master with all their wit. The students gained tremendous information while their preparation and during their presentation. The mind-boggling rounds of questions related to spellings, vocabulary grammar and literature were exhilarating. The rapid fire round tested the teams on their quick and accurate responses and concluded the winners. The audience was equally involved to answer the unanswered questions to keep their interest alive and make them a part of the activity. The students who stood victorious were:

Career Counselling Session by Wonderskool at DAV Pakhowal Road Ludhiana

DAV Public School Pakhowal Road Ludhiana in association with Wonderskool organized a Career Orientation and Awareness Session for the parents of Class X students on 19th July, 2019. The Wonderskool experts enlightened the parents on reducing the hassles in the career/course selection process.The resource person Mr Sourav Gupta shared his elite knowledge about upcoming  career options along with the already existing ones.He also acquainted the gathering with the changes in the education scenario worldwide.The parents were guided on skill based Career options.They also threw light on various Colleges in India which provide free or subsidised studies, but offer fantastic placements.

Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar shared that seeking professional help at the grass root level enlightens the students and reduces the stress of career selection. It saves students from unnecessarily beating about the bush. The mushrooming of careless practices while choosing career could be curtailed with such counselling sessions.The session was extremely informative and fruitful for the parents.

THREE DAYS CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOPS FOR TEACHERS INAUGURATED AT DAV PAKHOWAL ROAD, LUDHIANA

Under the aegis of DAVCAE, DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana inaugurated a Three Days Capacity Building Programme for Secondary and Senior SecondaryTeachers on its campus on 11th July 2019 for the subjects of Social Science, Punjabi, Economics, Accountancy, Business Studies and Physical Education. The workshop was conducted by an elite faculty from DAV including Ms. Davinderjit Kaur and Ms. Riya Updhyay as resource person for classes III- V, Ms. Rumjit Kaur and Ms. Diksha Khanna as resource person for classes VI-VIII, Ms. Kavita Anand and Ms. Manjeet Kaur as resource person for classes IX-X for Social Science. Ms. Harpreet Kaur and Ms. Gurdeep Kaur as resource person for Punjabi, Ms. Monica Gupta and Mr. Balwinder Singh as resource person for Economics, Ms. Aman Dhir, Mr. Vikas Mehra and Ms. Kanchan Sharma for Accountancy and Business Studies, Mr. Kamaljit Singh and Mr. Rajesh Thakur as resource person for Physical Education.

It was indeed a matter of great honour for the teachers of eleven DAV schools to be a part of this enrichment programme.  The Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar welcomed the resource persons and the delegates. She enlightened the teachers about the goals of the workshop. She shared that these workshops are purely customized as per the needs of the teachers. In her address she threw light on the practical challenges and problems being faced by the teachers in the teaching learning process. She also expressed her high expectations from the teachers to learn and excel in their classroom work and management.

The first day workshops of different subjects were a panorama of many informative activities to facilitate teaching at secondary and senior secondary level. The session started off with brainstorming questions which ignited the creative thought process of the teachers. Many interactive, fun-filled activities and complex concepts were explained thoroughly. These activities focused on creative methods of the teaching-learning process which can be adopted in the classroom. The resource persons elaborated minutest nuances of the various subjects and stressed on the innovative teaching methods for gifted and slow learners. The various ways to add the art integrated activities were also discussed. The participants had a great time of learning and peer sharing. The delegates had a gala time while wholeheartedly participating in the interesting classroom activities. It was in fact a fruitful and knowledgeable beginning of the workshop.

Capacity Building Workshop for Economics at DAV Pakhowal Road

DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road,Ludhiana in association with Truefriend Publications organised a One-Day Capacity Building Workshop in Economics for the Senior Secondary Teachers on its campus on 27/9/2018. Around 120 PGT teacher delegates from Punjab became a part of this informative workshop. 

Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar welcomed the resource person Prof J.P.Goel and all the delegates with her pearls of wisdom and encouraging orientation. In her felicitious address, Dr.Bhullar enlightened the teachers with their role and resposibilities as PGTs. She motivated the delegates to shed off their hesitation and participate actively during the session. She wanted teachers to return enriched and resourceful. 

The induction was followed by a rigorous and detailed session on skill based learning. He suggested many effective strategies to enhance the quality of teaching and produce par excellance results.

The open session by Prof. Goel gave a much needed opportunity to the teachers to clarify their doubts related to  recent changes in the curriculum. 

The workshop concluded with a heartfelt gratitude to Pr. Dr Satwant Kaur Bhullar for always taking keen initiatives to enrich teachers and Prof. J.P. Goel for enlightening the teachers and broadening the horizon of their knowledge.

Capacity Building Workshop

TWO DAY CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME CONCLUDES AT DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL PAKHOWAL ROAD, LUDHIANA

Two day capacity building programme under the guidance of DAVCAE, winded up in its full glory at DAV Public School Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana. Around 80 teachers of Primary level from different DAV schools participated in the programme under the stewardship of Pr. J.K. Sidhu, the Assistant Regional Officer and Regional Training Coordinator of Ludhiana Zone. The concluding day was graced by the benign presence of Pr.Mrs.Sonali Sharma (RMB DAV Cent. Public School, Nawanshahr) of Social Science and English, Mrs.Urmil Bhardwaj (Primary Supervisory Head, DAV, B.R.S Nagar) of Maths and Science. Valedictory ceremony was performed by Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar Principal of the host school along with guests to felicitate the resource persons for their efforts to polish the teaching methodologies. She said that it was an endeavour on the part of the school to keep the teachers abreast with the latest strategies to manage the classroom environment effectively. She wished all the teachers on the occasion of Hindi Divas as the Constituent Assembly of India had adopted Hindi written in Devanagari script as the official language of the Republic of India

 The participants had a gala time of learning and upgrading their skills of teaching. Activity based interesting sessions made every teacher to think critically and make the classroom teaching child- centric with innovative and interesting activities through ice breaking, balloon activity, minimum learning, letter tiles in Science, factors and multiple puzzle game, math loto, fun in circles, currency puzzle, making paper protector in maths, arranging the states alphabetically, menu making according to the dishes of the different states, uses of three R’s in Social Science. Games, presentations, PPT, role plays, poster making, innovative skills for poem recitation and so on captivated the interest of the learners of English and Hindi language.Classroom Management session on handling students with different tendencies, to find solutions to the common problems through sharing and professional counseling provided the multiple approach for effective classroom teaching.

Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar presented mementos to the distinguished On –Site Coordinators and resource persons as a token of appreciation for all the hard work they had put in, to make the workshop a success and enriched learning experience. She highlighted the fact that “If teachers don’t act as learners, they cannot keep themselves abreast with the 21st century pedagogical developments”. She also laid emphasis on extracting the creativity from each child by ‘exploring the garden within’. It was a fruitful and enriching session, full of hands-on activities for teachers to indulge and learn from. Teachers will now look forward to apply these strategies effectively in the classroom.

International Yoga Day : An Eternal Bliss

DAV Public School Pakhowal Road Ludhiana celebrated the International Yoga day on its campus on 21 June 2019 to value the spiritual practice of integrating body, mind and soul. This Yoga Day was initiated by the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi Ji to inculcate the holistic approach to health and well-being. The Principal Dr Satwant Kaur Bhullar accepted it as a great opportunity to impart this practice as means to align and balance body on a regular basis. Amidst the ongoing summer break the students of all the classes were invited to join the celebration. The excited crowd of teachers and students gathered to perform yoga at 6:45 a.m. onwards. The morning kicked off with a holy beginning with a short prayer to foster devotion. The prayer session was followed by a short orientation speech by the school yoga instructor Mr Naveen Sharma who shared the multiple and noticeable benefits of regular yoga practice. He also warmed up and encouraged the students to participate and learn actively. The yogic drill included yogic jogging, several forms of Praanayaama (conscious breathing) including loosening practices,  Tadasan, Vriksasana, Pada-Hastasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Trikonasana, Bhdrasana, Bhujangasana, Vakrasana, Makarasan, Setubandhasana,  Pavan Muktasana,  Kapalbharti, Dhyan in Sambhavi Mudra and many more. During the session, the approach was to encourage mental amd physical fitness and to become conscious of the specific body parts after doing a corresponding pose.  The occasion concluded with a pledge to incorporate Yoga in routine and recitation of Shanti Path by the participants. The participants thoroughly enjoyed the 45 minutes of work out.  It was indeed a fruitful fitness session for all.

DAV Pakhowal Road had a gala time extending huge applause to the recently passed out Senior Secondary Alumni for bringing accolades for the school by grabbing scintillating positions in CLAT and IIT JEE Advance Exam 2019. Divyanshu (AIR 151) brought laurels for the school by grabbing commendable rank in CLAT Exam 2019, followed by Amrin Kaur Rajpal with AIR 1296.  Three students Dhriti Gupta (AIR 3705), Ishan Sharma (AIR 6363) and Arjun Kathail (AIR 9101) were acknowledged for their brilliant scores in IIT JEE Advance 2019. It is indeed a proud moment for the school that the students have paved the way towards their bright future.
The diligent students of DAV Pakhowal left no stone unturned to enhance the glory of the school with their unbeatable scores in CLAT and IIT JEE Advance Exam 2019. The talented brigade is all set to take its place in the realm of higher learning. It is a privilege for the school to pass on its gems to several prestigious colleges around India to be further polished into precious stones.

She said that with Almighty’s grace and blessings and under the able guidance of the esteemed Chairman Padamshree Dr Punam Suri Ji, President DAVCMC, New Delhi and respected Sr. S.S. The school is proud of its stakeholders. She also shared that this achievement is a milestone before many more to come. Summer Camp: Time for hobby

DAV Pakhowal Road Ludhiana organized a one week delightful Summer Camp for the students of Class I to VII. Around 100 students participated in various activities of summer camp. It created a wave of excitement among the students. It was a seven days spectacle where the students enjoyed creative workshops. The school arranged several fruitful and enjoyable activities including dance, non- flame cooking, theatre, art and craft etc.. The students chose their activities according to their tastes and interest. The students had a great time learning various performing arts. The Summer Camp energized the students further for the upcoming vacation. The joy of the camp was doubled on the concluding day.  The efforts made by the students and teachers culminated with a spectacular grand finale and Closing Ceremony. Hon’ble Mr. Harish Kumar and Ms. Ritu Kumar elite members from Satyug Darshan Academy were the Chief Guests of the event. An Art and Craft exhibition was set up that mesmerized the onlookers. The guest relished the sumptuous delicacies cooked by students.A short skit on healthy food v/s Junk food convinced the audience to the core. Students presented mesmerizing performances by showcasing their talents in music, dance and role plays.  The day held a platform for the skills learnt by the students in one week.A valedictory ceremony was organised to honour the participants by Satyug Darshan Sangeet Kala Kendra.

Principal Dr Satwant Kaur Bhullar shared that Summer Break is high time to pursue leisure time learning. It gives immense happiness and satisfaction to engage children in productive leisure time. She wished to instill the values of cooperation in team work, sharing and helping peers etc. The Summer Camp 2019 was a huge success. The school received an encouraging response and appreciation from all the parents who were excited and amused to see their children brimming with talent. It was indeed a matter of great pride for the school to handover enriched students to their parents.
