Bhavanjali- A Tribute to Swami Shraddhananad

DAV Public School Pakhowal Road Ludhiana commemorated the Balidan Diwas of their great mentor Swami Shradhanand ji on its campus on 23rd December,2019.The day began with a sacred Vedic Panch Kundiya Yagya performed by Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar , staff and the students. The melodious recitation of Vedic Mantras and bhajnas by the school choir blessed everyone with an eternal joy and peace . The soulful psalms enchanted by the students mesmerised everyone. The volunteers of school Arya Yuva Samaj unit and Eco Club made the auspicious occasion more momentous by planting saplings to instill the awareness about clean and green environment. To uphold the values imparted by Swami Shraddhanand ji , the students and teachers pledged to propagate the message of ‘Save water and Save Environment’ throughout the society actively.The students of Class VI-VIII drafted convincing posters with slogans to spread awareness about environment protection.The students recited beautiful and melodious poems on conserving environment and paid a heartfelt tribute to Swami Shradhanand ji.

Pr. Dr. Bhullar enlightened the gathering with her prestigious discourse. In her address, she elaborated the vision and mission of Arya Samaj in propagating the virtues and values amongst the stakeholders. She appreciated the blissful efforts of the students and admired the staff for its prolific endeavour. She threw light on the fruitful life of Swami Shraddhanand and acknowledged his indispensable contribution in spreading the preachings of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. She informed that the celebration was a pursuit to impart the illuminating vision of Padam Shri Dr. Punam Suri Ji, President DAVCMC New Delhi and President Arya Pradeshik Pratinidhi Sabha, New Delhi amongst the budding stakeholders. She assured that she would carry on this noble service for the well being of the society.

Seminar on Healthy Vision at DAV Pakhowal Road Ludhiana

DAV Pakhowal Road Ludhiana organized a seminar on Healthy Vision for the students of classes VI and VII on its campus.Dr. Renu Thakur, PHD optometry and Head of Optometry Dept, Sankar Eye Hospital, Ludhiana was took up the indespensible session as the esteemed resource person. Dr. Thakur enlightened the students with numerous valuable tips on healthy vision. She also guided the students on how to use proper light while studying for comfortable vision. She shared that the gateway to good vision is healthy diet. The session concluded with an interactive session where Dr Thakur answered the queries of the students and enriched them to take care of eyes.

Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar shared that visionary problems need early detection and cure as it affects a child’s concentration and enthusiasm to learn in the class. She also stressed the significance of healthy diet and physical exercise in improving the personality of the students. It was indeed a very informative session for all.

SEMINAR ON FIRST-AID AND BASIC LIFE SKILLS AT D.A.V PAKHOWAL ROAD LUDHIANA

DAV Public School Pakhowal Road Ludhiana organized a seminar on First-Aid and Basic Life Support for its staff members on 13-12-2019. Dr. Anupam Srivastava ( Senior Consultant and HOD Anaesthesia and Critical Care, MBBS-MD from SPS Apollo Hospital, Ludhiana) undertook the seminar as the esteemed resource person. The engaging interactive session was highly appreciated by Pr. Dr. Bhullar and teachers alike.

Dr. Anupam Srivastava in her extensive lecture shared that BLS are crucial to be developed amongst the school teachers to deal with medical emergencies in the classrooms. He suggested several simple and effective techniques to give first aid and enhance the survival rate. He threw light on the primary skills of BLS and demonstrated mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and CPR. The staff was also trained to critically examine and assessing the situations of resuscitation without any panic.

Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar appreciated and thanked Dr. Anupam for a fruitful session. She emphasized the necessity for integrating the subject into the core curriculum of schools which could help in circulating the culture of emergency care in the general population. She added that such seminars were the need of the hour. She ensured to hold such session in future too.

DAV Pakhowal pledge for Zero Waste Zone

The DAV Pakhowal Eco Club organized a special seminar to orient the teachers for creating environment sensitivity amongst the students. Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar along with all the staff members pledged to make the school zero waste zone. All the staff members vowed to save at least one litre of water everyday. The teachers were guided to sensitize the students while routine teaching. The Eco Club Coordinator Mrs Puja Singh in her extensive lecture on ways and means to adopt 3R’s. The teachers were guided to encourage the students to shoulder the responsibility of disposing their own waste through twin bin, Vermi compositing and e-waste disposal system. This would certainly help the people to dispose off their waste in an efficient way.

Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar shared her concern on the depleting ground water and inefficient garbage disposal. She acquainted the teachers with the alarming state of water shortage. The school has initiated and installed various system to dispose off biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. She told the teachers to shoulder the onus of spreading awareness amongst the students because it would help the students to develop good habits at a tender age. She motivated the teachers to teach students to celebrate their special moments by planting trees. She advised to discourage the use of aluminum foils and single use plastic in the school premises. She suggested simple ways to save water like adopting twigs for brushing rather than brushing, recycling paper, use refills instead of new pens. and many more. She also said that the school is going to start a signature campaign very soon in which the school staff, students and visitors would assure to do their bit to conserve the environment.

Various helpful PPTs and videos related to saving water and proper utilization of dustbins. The seminar was an eye opener and a huge inspiration for the staff members. All were geared up to take up this social responsibility religiously.

DAV Pakhowal bagged laurels at PAU Flower show

The volunteers of DAV Pakhowal Eco Club added luster to the school name by clinching the title of Best King of the Show at Two days Chrysanthemum show at PAU held on 3rd and 4th December, 2019. The participants were lauded for bagging first and second position in different categories. The participants spread awareness about planting seasonal plants and nourishing environment.

Ms Puja Singh (Coordinator Eco Club) shared that the competition was a wonderful attempt to encourage children to fall in love with nature.

Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar congratulated the winners and acknowledged thev Department of Floriculture and Landscaping for giving a floral platform for developing awareness among youth regarding nature conservation. DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL PAKHOWAL ROAD LUDHIANA STUDENTS BAGGED RECOGNITION AT 27 TH STATE LEVEL CHILDREN’S SCIENCE CONGRESS

The rising scientists Tavleen Kaur and Shubhkarman Saharan of Class XI from DAV Pakhowal Road Ludhiana participated in the 27th State Level Children’s Science Congress was organized by National Council for Science and Technology Communication held at Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala from 28th November to 30th November 2019. The students grabbed sincere appreciation for their unique project ‘Synthesis of Novel Bio absorbent based on Rice Husk and Stubble for Wastewater Treatment’. Both of them made the visitors spellbound with their matchless imagination, splendid creativity and indispensable utility of the project in controlling the elements which pollute the air and water resources and will help in safeguarding them for coming generations.
The project Incharge Jagdeep Singh (Senior Physics Teacher, DAV Public School Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana) shared that the project is a boon for farmers and people alike as it will kill two birds with one stone.

She stated that it was indeed a golden opportunity that our team had been selected to display the project at the national level in Kerala. She also assured that the school is leaving no stone unturned to enhance the academic and co-curricular strength of the students.

DAV Pakhowal Road Ludhiana Sport stars resplendent Victory

The girls sportstars of DAV Public School Pakhowal Road Ludhiana participated in the DAV National Sports 2019 held at DAV Public School, Panipat from 27/11/2019 to 29/11/2019. The event was inaugurated with the blessings of Padam Shri Hon’ble Dr. Punam Suri Ji (President DAVCMC New Delhi) and Respected J. P. Shoor ji ( Director PS-I). The mighty girls of the school rendered a resplendent display of courage and sportsmanship amongst 3000 participants all over India. The school U-19 Basket Ball team including Pretty Sidhu, Kanishka Dhir, Bhavika Dhir, Jasleen Kaur, Sehaj, Aditi and Parneet brought home the grand trophy by winning all the matches one sidedly. Amongst the boxers Kashika bagged Gold and Sanya, Taran & Garima won bronze medals. In Taekwondo, Khusha Sharma grabbed Silver Medal.

Mr. Rajesh Thakur, HOD Phy Edu dept. shared that the meritorious achievement is the result of meticulous efforts and determination of the players.

An informatory and interactive session on ‘Healing Herbs around the World’ was organized at DAV Public school Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana. Respected Dr. Richa Thakur, Reseach fellow at school of Agricultural Bio Technology,PAU, Ludhiana was the recourse of the day. In her lecture she gave an insight on usage of herbs and their miraculous health benefits. The students were apprised about how to use and prepare cost free remedies from the herbs available at their places. An effective and knowledge Presentation acquainted the students with the medicinal values of various herbs (Tulsi, Haldi, mint, Ajwain etc.). Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar conveyed her heartfelt thanks to the Dr. Richa Thakur for this noble gesture of making students aware about the gift of health bestowed on man in the form of medicinal herbs by nature.

Mrs. Jaideep Kaur (Academic Supervisor) expressed her gratitude to the resource person of the day for being a part of this ISA activity. She shared that the session will definitely make a difference in the student’s life. QUIZ TIME AT DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL PAKHOWAL ROAD, LUDHIANA

DAV Pakhowal Road conducted Social Science (IV) and Vedic Maths Quiz (VI &VII) on 30th November, 2019. Respected Sunil Jethi from Little Einstein and Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar presided over the function. The students were praised for displaying a spectrum of intelligence and spontaneousness while answering the Quiz master. Every round witnessed a nail-biting competition. The teams that cleared the preliminary rounds made their way to the finals.

ONE ACT PLAY ORGANIZED AT D.A.V. PUBLIC SCHOOL LUDHIANA

One Act Play for the students of class V was organised at D.A.V.Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana on 28th Nov, 2019. Around 100 students participated in this art of creative expression. Comedy with social reformation message was the theme of the show. The shining stars stole the show by acting on different topics like ‘Cleanliness is next to godliness’, ‘Social Media’, ‘Road Safety’ and so on. The budding stars used a variety of props to make their drama interesting and expressive. They learnt different values like helping others, cleanliness etc. The students exhibited utmost enthusiasm and passion in enacting their acts.

Mrs.Tajinder Kaur, Academic Supervisor shared that such shows give wings to the students’ imagination and transport them to places beyond the boundaries of their physical world. This show has been instrumental in providing the platform to the students to exhibit their theatrical skills.
