Week- Long Book Fair at DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana

Reading is to mind what exercise is to body’.To inculcate the habit of extensive and intensive reading amongst students, an edifying Book Fair  was held at D.A.V Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana from 26th September – 1st October  2019 . A wide range of books from all disciplines of education were put on display for browsing by the students, teachers and parents. The endeavor received an overwhelming response from the students and parents who had come to attend the PTM. The children enjoyed the fair and picked books varying from science to spooky stories; from puzzles to poems; and from fiction to facts. The teachers equally helped the children in selecting the books. The children wished the fair to last for a longer time as it would give them an opportunity to read and access more information beyond their curriculum books. During the entire week, an array of literary activities such as storytelling sessions, reading club, creative writing etc.were conducted. Students of class III to V participated enthusiastically. Imagination, creativity and expression were the keywords in the range of planned activities. A session on  creative writing for the students of classes VII to IX, deemed to be the most interesting aspect of the book show.

Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar shared that reading forms an integral part of education skills. Reading is the foundation of all the other scholastic factors. The habit to read needs to be ignited with such book fairs. It gives immense satisfaction to see students investing money in books rather than wasting it. The idea of book fair is not only limited to reading but to acquire wisdom and morals.

Mrs. Jaideep Kaur, Academic Supervisor shared that the teachers are trying their level best to make the students read what they have bought further encouraging them to exchange their books and multiply their knowledge.The students and the staff members enjoyed the fair a lot. The opportunity to browse books of so many varieties and in a large number at a time was a wonderful experience for the children.

DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL, PAKHOWAL ROAD, LUDHIANA CELEBRATED NSS DAY

NSS Unit of DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana celebrated NSS Day with great zeal and merriment. The event witnessed a large gathering of zealous NSS volunteers. Respected D.S. Lotey, NSS Incharge, was the Chief Guest of the day. To acknowledge and pay tribute to the noble idea behind NSS, under the guidance Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar along with Mr. Rajesh Sharma (Programme Officer) and Mrs. Kulpreet Kaur (NSS Unit Incharge) a spectacular show was prepared by the energetic Volunteers.

To promote NSS philosophy and ideology NSS Volunteers stepped forward to voice their feelings through speeches. The English drama on ‘Substance Abuse’ made everyone ponder upon the rampant outbreak of such evils. The thought provoking Nukkad Natak on ‘ Swachh Bharat’ left an everlasting impact on the audience. Patriotic songs and recital of poems were highly appreciated by the audience. The foot tapping bhangra performance was throughly enjoyed by all present.

Mr. D. S. Lotey in his address stressed that NSS is one of the best instruments to bring the change in the society. He urged the students to render self-less services to the community. He appreciated the DAV Pakhowal NSS volunteers for putting up such a great show. Mrs. Kulpreet Kaur (NSS Unit Incharge) voiced the achievements of NSS Unit and the efforts made since two years .She also shared how NSS Team has dedicated their day and night to spread the light of unity and change through their well-planned projects. She shared a PPT highlighting DAV Pakhowal NSS Unit work process which was highly admired by the audience. 

Pr. Dr. Bhullar appreciated the NSS Unit for creating such a wonderful opportunity for the students to come close to the society. She appealed the NSS volunteers to re-affirm their commitment to the spirit of National service and urged the students to leave no stone unturned in strengthening the foundation of this drive.It was indeed a fulfilling day for all.

ONE DAY ORIENTATION PROGRAMME LEAD COLLABORATOR PRINCIPALS AT DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL, PAKHOWAL ROAD, LUDHIANA

DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana hosted CBSE One Day Orientation Programme Lead Collaborator Principals on its campus on 27th September 2019 with the participation of around 100 Principals and delegates from different CBSE Schools. Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar welcomed the resource person and fraternity of the Principals. The event was presided over by the esteemed resource person Ms. Anjali Chabbra, Deputy Secretary CBSE COE- Chandigarh.

The resource person gave the introduction on the programme which focused on Hubs of Learning where Lead Collaborator Schools would collaborate with other schools to impart uniform education through innovation and updation. She talked about the changing pattern of examinations in CBSE affiliated schools. She also shared about  the practical difficulties faced by CBSE schools and the steps to be taken to overcome them. The programme focussed on sharing learning and resources for a better education system.

 The Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar thanked Ms Chabbra and the Principals for being a part of this learning journey. She said that the session would certainly strengthen the foundation of the education system. In her address she expressed her gratitude to CBSE for providing the golden opportunity to broaden the horizon of the administrators.

ONE DAY CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME ON CREATIVE WRITING & MATHEMATICS AT D.A.V. PUBLIC SCHOOL, PAKHOWAL ROAD, LUDHIANA

D.A.V. Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana hosted CBSE One Day Capacity Building Programme on Creative Writing and Mathematics, under the hub of learning – Chisel your skills on its campus on 23rd September, 2019 with the participation of around 40 delegates from different CBSE schools. The eminent resource persons of the day were Ms. Davinder Kaur Grewal, Ms. Shilpa Gumber form Peace Public School, Ludhiana for Creative Writing, Mr. Gopal Dass Thakur and Mr. Vikas Dogra from the host school for Mathematics.

The resource persons acquainted the gathering with the latest changes in syllabus and examination pattern of classes X and XII of Maths .They also stressed on the strategies to make E-Lesson Plans, framing of question papers, how to  handle difficult parents, common errors and omissions and art integrated activities. The resource persons abreast the teachers with the latest strategies to manage the classroom environment effectively. The resource persons also shared that how important the creative skill is for a child to learn, as it stretches the imagination, offers a wonderful outlet for expression and enhance visualization and vocabulary. They gave new ways of thinking about building writing skills and how to take it as a teaching tool capable of inspiring the students to create and interpret complex texts. The workshop marked a cherishable learning experience for all the delegates. The participants had a gala time of learning and upgrading their skills of teaching.

The Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar welcomed all the resource persons and delegates. She said that an exemplary teacher always enlightens and empowers the student. She also added that activities are an integral part of the teaching – learning process. Teachers must decide the objectives of learning and plan activities accordingly with the aim of students’ active participation. She advised that such workshops improve the mental health of the teachers. She added that she could very well foresee an enlightened world with ignited minds. The spontaneous growth of language, expression and creativity would surely lead to a gilded nation.

SWACHH BHARAT- SWACHH VIDYALIYA CAMPAIGN AT DAV PAKHOWAL ROAD LUDHIANA

The staff & students of DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana contributed their whole hearted Shramdaam by being a part of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign-2019. The volunteers were led by Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar who is a staunch believer of ‘Cleanliness is Godliness’. Dr. Bhullar appreciated the in depth vision and noble mission of the Honorable Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi ji in making citizens aware that ‘Sanitation is Everyone’s business’. Though the school ensures to conduct several activities related to spreading awareness and maintaining cleanliness, this time the focus was on curbing the use of single use plastics. The school NSS and Arya Yuva Samaj Unit volunteers gladly came forward to clean the school campus and its surroundings. They collected waste plastic and made the campus ‘Plastic Free Zone’. The school buddies pledged to limit the use of plastics and marched out a rally bearing thoughtful slogans like ‘Say No to Plastics’ and ‘Keep City Clean’ etc.

Ms. Gurjeet Kaur, Activity Incharge shared that the school volunteers had left no stone unturned to convince the masses during the drive. She stressed that the budding stakeholders must be taught to think clean. Such campaigns certainly add to the holistic development of the students as they are keen learners and most willing to act. It was indeed a fulfilling day for all.

TWO DAY CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME ON CAREER GUIDANCE CONCLUDES AT DAV, PAKHOWAL ROAD, LUDHIANA

The two day Capacity Building Programme on Career Guidance concluded gloriously at DAV Public School Pakhowal Road Ludhiana on 18th September,2019. Around 55 delegates from different CBSE schools participated in the programme. The resource persons Pr. Sh. Dalbir Singh, Principal Gyan Ganga School, Sangrur and Pr. Ms. Monica, Principal of Everest Public Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana graced the concluding ceremony with their benign presence. The workshop marked a   cherishable learning experience for all the delegates. A felicitous valedictory ceremony was organised to honour the resource persons for their efforts and appreciate the participants of the delegates.

The words brought a productive transformation in the teachers to suggest careful career option. The objective of career guidance  was to find solutions to the common problems through sharing and professional counselling. Numerous effective strategies were propsed to deal with the routine and complex problems of the students . The stress was laid on the  understanding students psychology. The session proved beneficial for the teachers not only from guidance point of view but also uprised them with latest career options.

She said that the session will certainly help the talented students to decide perfect streams at Sr. Secondary Level. It would strengthen the foundation of their upcoming life. TWO DAYS CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME ON CAREER GUIDANCE AT DAV PAKHOWAL ROAD, LUDHIANA

DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana hosted CBSE Two Day Capacity Building Programme on Career Guidance on its campus on 17th and 18th September, 2019 with the participation of around 55 delegates from different CBSE Schools. The workshop was conducted by eminent resource persons Sh. Dalbir Singh, Principal of Gyan Ganga School, Sangrur and Ms. Monica, Principal of Everest Public Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana.

The resource persons acquainted the gathering with the changes in the education scenario worldwide. They said that every student faces a question “What Next “and “Which Stream” after class X & XII. There are many career options available but it is very difficult to choose the right career option. They said that there should be a friendly relationship between teachers and students for their right guidance. They gave several tips to recognise the aptitude of the students and suggested various career options. It was an interactive session where the teachers resolved their doubts and queries on career and future prospects.

The Principal Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar welcomed all the dignitaries and delegates. She emphasized upon the need and importance of such career guidance programs. In her address she expressed her deepest appreciation to CBSE for providing the golden opportunity to the teachers to broaden their horizon.  She further shared that such  workshops enable teachers to set students in right direction and understand their hidden talent in an advanced way. She advised that seeking professional help at the grass root level enlightens the students and reduces the stress of career selection. It saves students from unnecessarily beating about the bush. The mushrooming of careless practices while choosing careers could be curtailed with such programs.

D.A.V Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana celebrated ‘Hindi Diwas’.

D.A.V. Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana organised Hindi Diwas for its teachers and students on its campus on 14-09-2019. Students were imparted knowledge about the history and importance of Hindi through an informative video. Several activities were organized to impart knowledge about the simplicity and scope of the language. The teachers expressed their feelings and emotions through their beautiful and self-composed poems.

Mrs Kiran Jain (HOD Hindi) expressed her elation on the occasion and shared the cultural value of Hindi language with the audience.

The Principal Dr.Satwant Kaur Bhullar congratulated the staff and said that Hindi is the most powerful language which connects the whole country. She stressed that it is our moral duty of the Indians to enhance the glory of Hindi being the national language.  Hindi is the best means of expression and recognition of our existence. On this pious occasion the students and teachers took pledge to maintain the dignity and respect of the language.

STRESS AND DIET MANAGEMENT SEMINAR HELD AT DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL PAKHOWAL ROAD, LUDHIANA

To overcome stress and diet related issues, an interactive session was organized at DAV Public school Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana on 12th September, 2019. Dr. Jagjot Singh, MBBS, MD, Consultant psychiatrist from Fortis Hospital and Dt. Pooja Munjal, Dietician,were the experts of the day. The engaging interactive session was highly appreciated by Pr. Dr. Bhullar and teachers alike.

Dr. Jagjot Singh in his address shared innumerable ways to deal with stress amongst teachers and students. He encouraged healthy discussion with teachers to generate solutions to manage stress in an effective manner. Dt. Pooja Munjal shared important tips related to balance diet. She stressed that one should take regular health check to insure healthy physique. The informatory  session proved helpful for the teachers.

Pr. Dr. Satwant Kaur Bhullar felt grateful to the doctors for a fruitful session. She shared that in every way of life problems come in the form of twists and turns but beauty lies in how peacefully one handles them. She said that along with stress maintenance one needs to consume healthy diet  which will enhance the charm of one’s personality. She ensured to hold such session in future too.

Astounding Sports Star of DAV Pakhowal

The DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana, U-17 & U-19 Girls Basket Ball Team grabbed the winners’ trophy at Punjab School District Basket Ball tournament held at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana from 3^rd Sep, 2019 – 7^th Sep 2019. The girl’s team comprising Kanishka, Bhavika, Ekam, Parneet, Aditi, Sehaj and Jasleen represented Ludhiana Zone and gave a cut throat competition to the fellow ten zones. The girls finished off all the matches as clear winners and made their way to the state level.

The coach Mr. Rajesh Thakur shared the sweat and blood journey of the girls while practice and preparations. He also expressed his elation on taking away the winner’s trophy as a token of hardwork and true sportsmanship.
